Calgary Pier

This small stone pier was built from Iona marble and was once used to take sheep to and from grazing on the Treshnish Isles. Here the residents of Inivea and other nearby townships were shipped out to Canada and the East Coast of America as part of the infamous Highland Clearances. Note the ruin of the old pier house, set into what looks like a wall but is actually a volcanic dyke.
