January: No meeting.

February 7th (Wednesday): Annual Joint Meeting with Mull Museum. The Hon. Mike Shaw ‘The Islands that Roofed the World’ Tobermory Church Hall, 7pm for 7.30. Supper and Raffle.

March 5th (Wednesday): Craignure Village Hall, committee room. 7.30pm. Ceri Houlbrook – A talk with slides ‘The Ardmaddy Wishing Tree’. Members £1, Guests £1.50. Please note that this is a Wednesday meeting and not our usual Friday.

March 14th (Friday): Annual Dinner Western Isles Hotel, Tobermory. 7pm for 7.30.  Speaker: Mr J. Corbett ‘Lochbuie’. Please book with the secretary Tel: 01688 500111 email: mull.h.and.a.s@gmail.com or mullprint@btinternet.com. Price will be confirmed when numbers are known.

April 4th (Friday): A visit to Iona to see the new exhibition to be followed by tea and scones at the Columba Hotel, and a short AGM. We can either take a picnic lunch or some folks might like to have lunch on Iona. More details will be posted later.

May 3rd (Saturday): After John Clare’s excellent talk about Kilpatrick in September last year, we promised a walk in the area guided by John (if he can get time off). This will be a half-day outing and will probably involve a picnic lunch. Again, more details when they are available.

June 6th (Friday): A walk at Treshnish courtesy of Carolyne and Somerset Charrington. Don’t forget to wear good footwear.

July 4th (Friday): Mainland outing to Bona Awe Iron Furnace, Glenorchy Parish Church, St Conan’s Kirk and Brander Lodge for tea before returning to Oban for the 6pm ferry back to Mull.

August 15th (Friday): All being well this will be Morvern Heritage Society’s bi-ennial visit to us here on Mull. We’d like to visit Kildavie with them as this had to be postponed in 2012 due to Forestry Work. As usual we will provide transport from Fishnish to Kildavie and then to Leacann, Croig, courtesy of Suzanne and Bill Patterson where we will have our picnic. All to be confirmed.

September 12th (Friday): For our first autumn talk we hope to have Bill Revie of Construction Materials Consultants Limited. Bill’s company specialises in identifying the materials which were used in the original contruction of many ancient building (for example Moy Castle). Sometimes the materials are difficult to reproduce causing major problems when buildings are being maintained. We hope Bill will be able to tell us about ‘Working With Lime on Ancient Buildings’. Venue to be confirmed.

October 3rd (Friday): Mackichan Lecture at Duart Castle Tearoom. This is our annual fund raising effort for The Catherine Mackichan Trust. More details to follow.

November 7th (Friday): The Annual Joint Meeting with Mull Museum. Each year we take it in turns to host a Joint Meeting with Supper and a keynote speaker. This year it is the turn of Mull Museum to host the evening. More details to follow.
